Eco Council
Eco Project with Clent Connect
The Eco-Council, with the support of Clent Connect, has started a project of growing vegetables from seeds. Clent Connect has very kindly helped to fund our equipment on the understanding that we will give the vegetables to the community hub for sale to the local community. Any profits will then be split 50/50 with the Eco-Council.
This has been an exciting project for our children. They have learnt about the environmental impact of pesticides, branding and marketing a product, budgeting and costing, funding start-up equipment and sustainability, not to mention working as a team and some hard physical exercise!
Jacqui Brocklebank has kindly given up her time to help us and has driven the gardening and growing. We use peat-free organic soil, no chemicals and have grown everything from seed in our polytunnel. This is the beginning of what we hope will be a sustainable, community-linked environmental project for the future.

What is the Eco Council?
The eco council is a group of 8 children in Key Stage 2 who applied for the role after expressing their passion for the environment. They are Harry Downing, Harrison Dunn, Rosa Bacciocchi, Annabel Benson, Evie Carlton, Delilah Ashman, Georgia Hill and Jude Downing. All of them are devoted to helping the environment through school initiatives. They host assemblies, run eco stalls and are planning to run eco days throughout the school year. Every term, a newsletter will be published to the website detailing any recent eco news.
