Our reading progression, using the Clent Loves Reading way, enables children to acquire knowledge and to build on what they already know. We use VIPERS as part of our reading curriculum and this is explained below. Using the reading VIPERS as a driver to analyse texts, children will be exposed to high quality writing pertinent to the writing they intend to complete : reading into writing. As part of the writing progression process we have a strong focus on oracy. We believe that if you are not able to 'speak it' you cannot 'write it'. Accordingly, we want our children to build on the oral language skills that have been taught in preceding years so they have competence in spoken language and develop a broad and rich vocabulary. This will help our children to achieve now and in secondary education and beyond.
